MORRIS BUCKS

Purchase Morris Bucks online in $5 increments HERE! A $.15 fee is charged per bucks to cover credit card fees. Bucks can also be purchased with cash or check at Tryon Downtown Development Association.

Morris Bucks are a locally-contained currency developed by Tryon Downtown Development Association in an effort to increase the amount of money spent in our local businesses. Think of them as a “Tryon” gift certificate. Given usually as a gift or reward, they guarantee that the user will be spending their money supporting our local merchants. Morris Bucks can be used at any member business in the place of cash and then are turned in to TDDA for a full cash exchange. It is a simple process that connects TDDA with our town’s merchants in an effort to promote the flow of money through the local economy. The TDDA Board of Directors voted to launch the program by giving out $500 worth of Morris Bucks this holiday season. People will also be able to purchase and gift Morris Bucks.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. People will be gifted or purchase Morris Bucks in increments of $5. The “bucks” must be signed and dated by Jamie Carpenter. They will be good for one year from the date signed.

2. If you are a member and your store accepts Morris Bucks, The gift certificates will be as good as an in-store gift certificate or cash at your store

3. Submit reimbursement to TDDA. Reimbursements will be given out in form of a check after the 1st and 4th Wednesday of each month.

4. All participating stores must be members of good standing with TDDA. If you accept Morris Bucks and are not a current member we will be unable to reimburse you for these expenses. If you choose not to be a member of TDDA, You will either need to deny a customer use of the Morris Bucks, or not receive reimbursement.

TDDA Membership for businesses is $75, and this is a great perk. TDDA Membership, along with financial support from the Town of Tryon and Polk County Community Foundation allows our organization to put on events like 4th Fridays, the Christmas Stroll and more to bring people downtown and promote Tryon. TDDA also works well beyond events to look at the appearance of downtown, business recruitment and retention, and long-term development of our community.

The following are current member businesses/nonprofits. If you are not on this list, we will be unable to reimburse for Morris Bucks or promote your business as a place that accepts them. If your name is not on here and you believe you have paid membership dues this year, please contact me and I will correct ASAP! Membership can be renewed online via credit card/paypal: https://downtowntryon.org/membership/
